SAN BERNARDINO – San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs is helping dependents of deceased or disabled veterans apply for California college tuition and fee waivers at two upcoming community events in August.

The county says as California tuition fees increase, the College Fee Waiver Program is a valuable benefit that waives mandatory system-wide tuition and fees at any state of California Community College, California State University, or University of California campus.

To qualify for a waiver the applicant must meet eligibility under one of four different plans that include:

  • Child of a Veteran;
  • Spouse of a wartime Veteran;
  • Unmarried surviving spouse of a wartime Veteran;
  • Dependent of any Veteran who has been declared missing in action;
  • Dependent of any member of the California National Guard;
  • Medal of Honor recipients and children of Medal of Honor recipients.
