APPLE VALLEY – Around 8:49 a.m. April 24, 2026, Apple Valley deputies responded to a residence in the 15900 block of Washoan Road for an unknown problem. Deputies found the victim at a neighboring property with severe injuries.

Deputies learned the 59-year-old male victim had been stabbed at the home he shared with his wife. As deputies approached the home, they saw smoke coming from inside.

Deputies attempted to enter the home to rescue occupants, but it was barricaded. A family member safely exited the home before shots were heard.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded and attempted to contact the suspect but received no response.

Within minutes, the home was fully engulfed in flames, and nearby homes were evacuated. The Apple Valley Fire District responded and extinguished the fire.

SED personnel cleared the home and found a deceased woman.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Detail responded, took over the investigation, and determined the victim and suspect were involved in a physical altercation when the stabbing occurred.

Autopsy will determine cause of death

Investigators determined the suspect set the house on fire after the fight. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The decedent has not been identified, and an autopsy will determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904.
