APPLE VALLEY – The Victor Valley Museum will open the Here Comes the Sun: Solar Science & Spirituality exhibition on Saturday, August 2.

The exhibit features floor-to-ceiling projections of footage from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and runs through Sunday, November 23.

Using advanced imaging instruments, SDO captures visuals of solar flares, sunspots, and magnetic fields. These observations help scientists study space weather and its effects on communications and power systems.

Here Comes the Sun includes regional artifacts, interactive displays, and immersive experiences that highlight the Sun’s scientific and symbolic significance across the county.

Curator of Art and Exhibits Dr. Casey Lee said the exhibition is more than just a scientific journey.

“It’s an exploration of how the Sun has shaped our beliefs, our environment, and our future. Visitors will leave with a deeper appreciation for the Sun’s role in both the natural world and human culture,” said Lee.

Hours of Operation

Highlights of the exhibition include:

  • An immersive floor-to-ceiling projection of Solarium provided by NASA’s SDO
  • San Bernardino County Museum artifacts from archaeology, earth sciences, history, and biology, exploring their connection to the Sun
  • A hands-on interactive plasma ball
