California relaunching $2,000 e-bike voucher program this month after tech issues

CALIFORNIA – The California E-Bike Incentive Project will relaunch the second application window on May 29 after the website experienced technical issues in April.

“We apologize for the technical issues we experienced in the initial launch and appreciate your patience as we prepare for the second application window,” said the project administrators in a statement.

They said they are dedicated to providing a more streamlined application process and have ensured the website can handle high traffic.

Program will release 1,000 vouchers

The re-launch is providing $2 million or 1,000 vouchers in an effort to increase access to affordable clean mobility solutions.

For the April application round, the program directed applicants to join a virtual waiting room for a randomly ordered queue.

The project recommends applicants subscribe to their email list for the latest updates.

Income-eligible Californians can apply for a voucher

Once approved, income-eligible individuals can use their voucher at participating retailers to purchase a qualifying e-bike.

During its first round of funding, 100,000 applicants applied for 1,500 available vouchers.

The California Legislature funded the project to make e-bikes affordable and reduce car trips, emissions, and transportation costs for low-income residents
