SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – California Lottery announced October 2, that a $5 million Scratchers game was sold in Victorville, a prize large enough to provide the lucky winner with financial freedom.
“Calvin Smith also hit it big with a $5,000,000 win on a California State Riches Scratchers game purchased at Joe’s Market in Victorville,” said the California Lottery news release.
Gurjinder Kaur also won $1 million from an Ice Cool Scratchers sold at the Pacific Mini Mart & Smoke Shop in Riverside.
The lottery commission listed a total of $34 million in recent winnings across the state.
Bradley takes lump-sum cash payout of $5.8 million
The biggest winner, Bradley Bullock, purchased a $30 Royal Riches Scratchers at 7-Eleven on Prospect Avenue in Santee.
“I was able to sleep in a little because I didn’t have to work, but I needed a little caffeine pick-me-up, so I got an energy drink and a couple of Scratchers,” said Bullock.
Bullock says at first, he forgot about the two games he’d bought.
When he remembered, he got the shock of his life. On one of them – a Royal Riches game – he won the top prize of $10 million, according to the news release.
“I knew I’d won before I even scratched it because I scanned the barcode with the Lottery app,” said Bullock. “So, I scratched to see if it was real!”
Bullock decided to take the lump-sum cash payout of $5.8 million.
Celebrating 39 years of raising funds for public education
California Lottery also announced it’s celebrating its 39th year of fundraising for public education.
“From the very beginning, our mission has been to raise supplemental funding explicitly to support schools,” said California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima.
The California Lottery has raised more than $46 billion for public schools across the state since 1985.
