FONTANA – Celebrities, pro golfers and local politicians were among the 70 golfers that came out, Monday, to support the first charity golf tournament for Haven’s Future at the Sierra Lakes Golf Club. The nonprofit aims to build programs that will keep families together while under an abuse investigation and children out of the foster care system.

“We wanted to launch our nonprofit in a way that was fun for everybody,” said Haven’s Future Founder Stevevonna Evans. “We know that folks like to golf or should try golf so a golf tournament and banquet seemed like the best option.”

The early morning tournament concluded with a banquet for the golfers. Comedian Joe Torry, NHRA racer Maurice DuPont, pro golfers Dan Smacintosh, Sara Hansen, The Pasta Man, Henry Dicarlo, Dana Vaughns, and Bryon Russell were in attendance. Fontana Mayor Aquanetta Warren gave remarks. Evans also talked about the mission of Haven’s Future during the banquet.

“We will build programs that will house whole families that are accused of abuse, where they will be monitored while Children and Family Services (CFS) conducts their investigation,” said Evans. “While there, Haven’s Future will provide the families with all the services CFS recommend such as parenting, anger management and therapy to make a few.”

The organization will also have lawyers on standby ready to fight for families to get kids back for free.

“We want to thank everybody who came out in support of Haven’s Future and we look forward to growing with all of you to better our community,” said Evans.

Haven’s Future will be hosting another golf tournament May 23.
