Deadline near for SBA disaster loans for SoCal wildfire-impacted businesses and nonprofits

CALIFORNIA — California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) announced that businesses and nonprofit organizations harmed by recent wildfires in Los Angeles may be eligible for up to $2 million in low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The deadline to apply is October 8, 2025.

The Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is available to entities including businesses, private nonprofits, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and faith-based organizations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Ventura, and Kern counties.

It covers economic losses even if no physical damage occurred.

Funds from the loans can be used for working capital needs such as payroll, fixed debts, accounts payable, and other operational costs made difficult by the disaster.

Loan terms are up to 30 years, with interest rates of 3.625% for nonprofits and 4.00% for businesses. Recipients get a 12-month period during which payments aren’t required and interest doesn’t accrue.

Applicants can get more information or apply via the SBA website at sba.gov/disaster, by calling (800)-659-2955, or visiting one of two “Survivor Support Locations”: the Altadena Community Center or the One-Stop Rebuilding Center in Los Angeles.
