HESPERIA – Silverwood, a master-planned community in Hesperia, is hosting its grand opening on April 5 and 6, inviting families to tour 18 model homes and enjoy live music, food trucks, and kid-friendly activities.
“We’re bringing a special community to Hesperia,” Silverwood general manager John Ohanian told the HD Post.
The development has been in the works since 2012.
Spanning 9,366 acres, the community is planned to eventually include 15,663 homes, 7 schools, up to 1.5 million square feet of commercial uses and apartments.
With a focus on an active lifestyle, Silverwood will feature 387 acres of parks, 107 miles of paths, 59 miles of off-street trails, and Silverwood Lake.

Opportunity for first-time home buyers
Ohanian said it’s important to bring affordable housing options to Southern California amid a constrained housing market.
Homes in Silverwood start in the mid-$400,000s.
“It’s an opportunity for first-time or move up buyers to purchase a home,” said Ohanian.
He said he secured special financing for the builders, helping lower the price point of the homes.
Lennar, K. Hovnanian, Watt Capital Developers, Woodside Homes, and Richmond American Homes are set to build the first 650 single-family homes in the development.
Homes listed on the website range from 1,500 sq. ft. to 4,000 sq. ft., with two to three-car garages and up to 6 bedrooms.
Some floor plans feature mini suites that include a private bedroom, bathroom, and living area—ideal for extended family.
‘Excited to develop something unique’
The Silverwood development will be completed over the next 15 years.
“It’s a commitment from the city of Hesperia to work with us as we build,” said Ohanian. “We’re excited to develop something unique.”
The first residents are expected to move in by the middle of 2025.
The Silverwood grand opening is taking place April 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Welcome Center located at 5988 Forester Pass in Hesperia.
