Small businesses in the U.S. are often burdened with high levels of debt. In fact, small business owners, on average, have $195,000 of debt, according to Yahoo.
Grants, unlike loans, offer a crucial alternative by providing funds without the obligation to repay, helping small businesses reduce financial strain and avoid taking on additional debt

Heinz Black Kitchen Initiative
The Heinz Black Kitchen Initiative is back for Year 4 of empowering, supporting and pouring into Black-owned restaurants. To be eligible for the grant the business must be food and service based which includes bakeries, restaurants, cafes, pop-ups, farmer’s markets and catering businesses. The applicant must provide a personal statement that describes how the business contributes to the legacy of Black voices in the American culinary landscape (200 words or less).
Award amount: $25,000

At Playbook, their mission is simple: to help creative people be more creative. Eligibility includes any creative project that involves digital assets like images, text, audio, videos, or graphics is fair game. This includes but isn’t limited to digital zines, illustrations, motion graphics, and films.
The top 50 projects will receive grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 USD based on need and potential community impact.

Enthuse Foundation Pitch Competition
The Enthuse Foundation is hosting their 6th Annual Pitch competition that celebrates women who are making their mark on the food, beverage, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries. To be eligible for the grant the business must have a woman founder who owns at least 51% of the business, have a minimum of $10,000 in sales, founded on or after January 1, 2020, and revenue not exceeding $750,000.

PepsiCo Juntos Crecemos Program
In partnership with Hello Alice, PepsiCo’s Juntos Crecemos program is a component of PepsiCo’s broader $50 million comprehensive support for small businesses in the food and beverage industry over five years. Through PepsiCo’s Juntos Crecemos Grant Program, twenty (20) grants of $10,000 each will be awarded to small business owners in the food and beverage industry. A free Hello Alice account is required to apply for the grant.

The Hustler’s MicroGrant provides grants and invaluable resources to promising small businesses across the United States. Applications are open every month. There is a $10 application fee.

The Start. Pivot. Grow grant program is currently accepting applications for the micro grant for the third quarter of 2024. The $2,500 working capital micro grants may be used for utilities, commercial rent, inventory, professional development, software, marketing, or bookkeeping services. To qualify for the grant, you must be in business for at least two years, have annual revenue of $50,000 or more, and have 1-2 employees, including the owner.

Secretsos focuses on the entrepreneurs often overlooked by traditional investment sources – from those who are just starting out to those primed for explosive growth, Secretsos is offers accessible, and substantial support.

The Veteran Shark Tank was created in 2012 to promote and assist Veterans who are starting or growing their businesses. The five (5) finalists pitch their business idea to a panel of “sharks” in front of a live sold out audience – over 200 people. The winner receives a $50,000 cash prize.

HerSuiteSpot, offers a program that grants $1,000 per month to a small business owned by a woman of color. Eligible businesses have a business 51% owned by women of color and are currently registered in the US. There is a $10 application fee.

Wish Local Empowerment Program
Wish says Black-owned small businesses have long faced hardship due to systemic racism. They have dedicated a $2M dollar fund to give roughly 4,000 Wish Local small business partners financial support. The selected recipients will receive amounts between $500 – $2,000.
