VICTORVILLE — The increase in e-commerce shopping and demand for transportation of goods has boosted Rush Enterprises third quarter net income to $69.4 million, compared with $33.9 million, a year earlier. The company acquired an independent parts and service facility in Victorville that will be converted into a full-service Peterbilt Motors Co. dealership.

“We continue to see economic recovery and a strong freight environment throughout the country, which has created widespread demand for new and used trucks, as well as aftermarket products and services,” said Rush Enterprises CEO W.M. “Rusty” Rush during a third quarter earnings call.

The surge in online shopping has also helped boost employment in San Bernardino County’s Transportation and Warehousing sector over the last year. According to the California Employment Development Department, the Inland Empire saw a 19.1% increase since February 2020 in these jobs.

Rush is the largest network of commercial vehicle dealerships in North America with more than 100 dealership locations in 22 states. There are currently two Peterbilt dealerships in San Bernardino County.
