HESPERIA — The Hesperia Recreation and Park District Board of Directors voted unanimously on December 11 to formally censure director Kelly Gregg, citing conduct the board determined was detrimental to the district. 

Censure is a formal, public statement of disapproval issued by a governing body against one of its members.

The action was adopted through Resolution No. 25-12-01 and announced in a district news release on December 16. 

The censure does not remove Gregg from his elected seat on the board, but it imposes a series of remedial and administrative actions aimed at addressing the board’s concerns about his conduct and interactions with staff. 

Gregg is now required to undergo board-approved training in areas including ethics and governance, harassment and retaliation prevention, and appropriate communication. 

In addition, the resolution strips Gregg of all committee assignments, officer roles, liaison responsibilities, and district-authorized travel and conference attendance.

Board president James Roberts III said the action allows the district to move forward in alignment with its policies and obligations.

“The Board remains focused on serving the community and carrying out the District’s mission,” Roberts said in the release. 

Public Comments

During public comment at the December 10 board meeting, owners of G & N Automotive alleged that Gregg “publicly degrades local businesses.”

One of the owners said Gregg’s actions do not reflect leadership or public service and instead undermine the credibility of the board of directors.

“The censure restores public confidence,” the business owner said.

Gregg did not respond to a request for comment by publication time.

He has served on the Hesperia Recreation and Park District Board of Directors for several years and has been involved in multiple committees and leadership roles. 

Prior campaign materials describe him as a long-time resident of Hesperia with a focus on community engagement, youth programs, and fiscal transparency.

The board meets regularly and encourages public participation in its decision-making.
