CALIFORNIA – Amazon announced it is hiring 250,000 seasonal workers nationwide, including 30,000 in California, in preparation for the holiday season.

The company said this year it’s hiring for 250,000 full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions throughout its fulfillment and transportation network across the U.S.

“We find that our seasonal roles are really popular—often filling up within minutes of being posted—because they meet different needs for so many different people,” Amazon said.

Regular full- and part-time employees earn an average of $23 per hour with benefits, and seasonal employees can earn an average wage of over $19 per hour.

Amazon said the California openings include up to 3,000 positions in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Anaheim, and about 8,000 more across Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ontario.

Seasonal work can grow into lasting opportunities

The company said for some, the seasonal work is a few months of extra income during the holidays.

For others, it’s the first step toward a new career. Many seasonal hires later become managers, trainers, or leaders — proof these jobs can grow into lasting opportunities.

This year, Amazon is investing over $1 billion in additional pay and benefits for fulfillment and transportation employees, bringing the average total compensation to more than $30 per hour including the value of elected benefits.

Roles will be posted weekly from October through December on hiring.amazon.com. Since positions fill up quickly, candidates are encouraged to check often for updates.
