Dallas ICE Shooting Triggers Extra Patrols Around Adelanto ICE Center

ADELANTO – Following a deadly shooting this morning at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced it has stepped up patrols around the GEO Adelanto ICE Processing Center.

The Dallas attack happened around 6:40 a.m. when a gunman opened fire from a nearby building into the facility’s sally port, killing two detainees and injuring another before turning the gun on himself.

Federal officials said no ICE personnel were injured. Ammunition recovered at the scene was marked “ANTI-ICE,” and the FBI is investigating the incident as targeted violence.

Deputies increase presence at Adelanto facility

In response, Sheriff Shannon Dicus said deputies are increasing their presence around the Adelanto detention facility, which is operated by the private GEO Group under contract with ICE.

The Sheriff’s Department does not provide immigration enforcement inside the facility but is responsible for public safety in the city of Adelanto.

“There is currently no direct threat to the public or to the Adelanto ICE Processing Center,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. They added that deputies are actively monitoring potential threats in coordination with federal partners.

Sheriff Dicus urged residents to stay alert.

“With all the violence happening across the country, your deputies remain vigilant. Please partner with us and if you see something, say something, even threats on social media. We will respond in a significant manner to any extremist activity in this county,” he said.

Shooting at California news station

The Dallas incident comes on the heels of another attack targeting media. Just days ago, Sacramento’s ABC10 television station was struck by gunfire in what authorities described as a politically charged shooting.

While no injuries were reported, prosecutors said a note found in the suspect’s vehicle referenced grievances against federal entities.
