CALIFORNIA – TGS, a Fresno-based trucking company, announced in a letter to customers, vendors, and company drivers that it officially closed its operations on July 31.
“While the decision to close was a difficult one, influenced by the challenging market conditions facing the industry, our focus today is on expressing the deepest gratitude to all who have been a part of the TGS journey,” wrote TGS leadership.
TGS president Peter Schneider posted the letter to his LinkedIn account. It was signed by himself, CEO Timothy Schneider, and COO Robert Loya.
According to the company’s website, Timothy Schneider started TGS on May 1, 1985, in the back room of his father-in-law’s fruit packing shed. His son, Peter Schneider, joined TGS full-time in 1993 after graduating from business school.
TGS operated out of Fresno and Reno. It serviced major California ports including Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Oakland as well as rail ramps in Lathrop, Stockton, Oakland, and Reno.
TGS apologizes to vendors that they couldn’t see through to the end
In the letter, TGS thanked customers and shared that some members of the team will continue to serve the industry under a new flag.
To company drivers and LMC partners, TGS leadership said they were the heart and soul of the company.
“The dedication, hard work, and resilience you have demonstrated, especially over the past 12-18 months, have been nothing short of extraordinary,” they stated.
In the letter, TGS also expressed regret that it could not continue through to the end with its vendors.
“We greatly apologize for anything we have done to hurt your business,” they said.
TGS intends to remain in the industry
TGS leadership told industry partners that they intend to remain connected and involved in the industry moving forward.
“… we look forward to maintaining these valuable connections and building upon them,” they said.
