BARSTOW – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) announced that between July 7 and July 13, 2025, its Gangs/Narcotics Division investigators and partner agencies served a search warrant in Barstow and contacted suspects throughout the county.
The San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) team also conducted proactive patrols in Hesperia and nearby areas.
During the week, investigators contacted gang members and people prohibited from possessing firearms. During their investigations, one ghost gun was seized.
In addition, suspected meth was seized, with nine felony and 14 misdemeanor arrests made.
Prop 36 applied to two arrests
SBCSD said Proposition 36 applied to two of the above arrests.
On Nov. 5, 2024, California voters passed Prop. 36, reforming parts of Prop 47 linked to rising homelessness, addiction, and theft, according to SBCSD. Taking effect Dec. 18, it added new charges with enhanced penalties and limits on cite-and-release before court.
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved funds to boost sheriff operations and address quality-of-life crimes countywide.
Operation Consequences will target crime suppression in the High Desert and areas surrounding the city of San Bernardino. It will run for several months to curb violent crime, disrupt gangs, and arrest those illegally trafficking firearms.
