The United States Postal Service (USPS) raised Forever stamps prices and other mail-service rates nationwide – including in California, effective July 13, 2025.

The price of Forever stamps will rise from 73 cents to 78 cents.

Other USPS product price increases include:

  • Domestic postcards: 56 cents to 62 cents
  • Metered Letters: 69 cents to 74 cents
  • Stamped Letters (1 ounce): 73 cents to 78 cents
  • Additional ounce: 28 cents to 29 cents
  • International postcards and 1 ounce letters: $1.65 to $1.70

Prices are not changing for Priority Mail Express service.

New rates will keep Postal Service competitive

In May, USPS announced the 7.4% price increase stating the “proposed adjustments were approved by the USPS Board of Governors.”

“Although mailing services price increases are based on the consumer price index, shipping services prices are primarily adjusted according to market conditions,” stated USPS in a press release.

It added that the USPS governors believe these new rates will keep the Postal Service competitive while providing the agency with needed revenue.

Changes will help USPS fulfill six-day-a-week delivery

The changes are part of the 10-year Delivering for America plan. The goal is to enable the Postal Service to fulfill its mission of six-day-a-week delivery in a cost-effective and sustainable way.
