ADELANTO — Smooth jazz, funk and R&B music filled the Adelanto Stadium, Saturday, in honor of the fallen 9/11 and High Desert heroes. The High Desert Family Music festival brought together the community for a night of family fun.

“We’re celebrating our 9/11 fallen heroes and we’re also bringing families out from the High Desert,” said High Desert Family Music Festival Organizer Koray Keys. “We think this is a much needed event in the pandemic right now to bring families out together to enjoy good clean music.”

The event kicked off at 5 p.m. under a breezy wind that kept spectators cool. Musical acts included J. Boykin, RGM2X, Bruce McGhee and spoken word artists King DT and T. A second stage was set up featuring local hip-hop artists. Many people enjoyed listening to the music in lawn chairs on the stadium grass.

A kids zone entertainment area included a mobile gaming truck, bounce house, a jumbo Jenga game and popcorn machine.

Vending booths surrounded the stage offering food, wine, custom apparel, accessories and  desserts. Local vendors included D’Vine Wine Bar, Iguey’s Tacos, Peejayz and Tings, Glowing and Gifted, and Juicy Healings.

The festivities continued until midnight.

When asked if he would hold the festival again, Keys was optimistic.

“This is our first one, but we plan on doing it every year,” said Keys.
