San Bernardino County Fire demos cutting edge EMS eVTOL aircraft

Published on

CALIFORNIA – San Bernardino County Fire (SBCOFD) announced that, as part of its ongoing mission to serve the community with speed, precision, and innovation, it recently hosted a demonstration of an electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Their goal was to evaluate if the aircraft could deliver a paramedic safely, with gear and whole blood, to improve patient outcomes in the real world.

SBCOFD said the demonstration highlighted the potential of eVTOL technology to dramatically reduce response times and overcome traditional barriers like traffic congestion, natural terrain, or rural distances.

“This aircraft represents a powerful new tool in time-sensitive trauma care,” said SBCOFD in a post on X.

As the fire service faces increasingly complex challenges, SBCOFD said it’s actively exploring all emerging technologies to better serve residents. They said they are committed to identifying tools that can enhance public safety and improve patient outcomes.

The Pivotal aircraft demo is part of SBCOFD’s efforts to explore advanced solutions for emergency response.
