Urban Wars: Fitness Expo coming In March

Published on

ADELANTO — Strength endurance contests, healthy lifestyle vendors and family fun are coming to the Adelanto Stadium, in March, for the Urban Wars Fitness Expo. Two veteran owned companies, Comeback2Combat and Urban Iron Gym, are putting on the event to support veterans mental health.

“Fitness is what saved my life — it is what we pretty much consider a natural medicine for us,” said Comeback2Combat Owner Darin Vaughner. “So many veterans get out of the military — especially combat veterans, with no outlet, nowhere to go. So what they end up doing is either drinking themselves to death or doing drugs.”

Vaughner says he created his company to start a movement to re-integrate veterans into civilian life with job placement into the fitness industry.

He along with Urban Iron Gym Owner Denise Morales decided to put on the Urban Wars Fitness Expo to bring together fitness entrepreneurs who are trying to establish their brands.

Supplements, workout gear and health beverages are some of the products that vendors will have on display at the upcoming expo. Powerlifting and conditioning contests are also scheduled.

Urban Iron gym hosted the first Urban Wars Fitness Expo in August. Vaughner says the gym, located in Oak Hills, is run with the Marine Corps mindset. He considers the owners and members family.

Vaughner says it made sense for their organizations to partner up because of their commitment to veterans.

“Our movement is all about supporting veterans,” said Vaughner.

We’re trying to stop 22 veterans a day from killing themselves.

The proceeds from the fitness expo go toward non-profit organizations assisting veterans with fitness and job placement.
