CALIFORNIA – PULAU Corporation notified the California Employment Development (EDD) that it is laying off 133 workers at the Fort Irwin National Training Center, near Barstow, effective June 30.

According to its website, PULAU is a full spectrum defense supplier supporting America’s warfighter.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) lists eight locations across the base where workers are being permanently laid off.

While the specific reason for the layoffs has not been publicly disclosed, the defense contractor previously laid off 60 workers at Fort Irwin in 2022 due to changes in subcontracting decisions.

60-days notice required prior to mass layoff

The WARN Act requires employers to give 60-days’ notice before a mass layoff, plant closure, or relocation.

Employers must notify employees and both state and local representatives. This helps workers prepare for job loss, find new jobs, or train for new opportunities.
