Victorville Fire Department deployed to Los Angeles wildfires

VICTORVILLE – The City of Victorville announced January 9 that they deployed members of the fire department to help with the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this week.

“We are saddened to learn of the wildfire devastation happening in Los Angeles County.  We deployed members of our Victorville Fire Department and resources earlier this week to help protect communities threatened by the fires being fueled by Santa Ana Winds,” said the city in a statement.

They go on to say that their crews remain engaged in active structure protection and perimeter control.

According to Cal Fire there are currently five fires burning across 35,000 acres within Los Angeles County. It is estimated that the Palisades fire has destroyed over 1,000 structures and is 6% contained.

Police have detained a person of interest in connection with possible arson near the Kenneth Fire in West Hills. The cause of the other fires are still under investigation.

Victorville fire stations remain fully staffed

The city says they’re proud of their firefighters and look forward to their safe return.

“Our thoughts are with the families that have been negatively impacted by these fires,” said the city.

All Victorville fire stations remain fully staffed for response to the Victorville community.
