CALIFORNIA – On Sunday July 21, President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race saying the decision is in the best interest of his party and the country.

California Governor Gavin Newsom took to X, formerly known as Twitter, with his own commentary.

“President Biden has been an extraordinary, history-making president — a leader who has fought hard for working people and delivered astonishing results for all Americans. He will go down in history as one of the most impactful and selfless presidents,” said Newsom on X.

Later on Sunday, Newsom endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris calling her “tough,” “fearless” and “tenacious” in a post on X.

With our democracy at stake and our future on the line, no one is better to prosecute the case against Donald Trump’s dark vision and guide our country in a healthier direction than America’s Vice President, @KamalaHarris,” said Newsom on X.

Harris has yet to select a running mate.
