CALIFORNIA – Red Lobster announced Monday that it would be closing more than 50 restaurants across the country. The company is auctioning off kitchen equipment and furniture until May 16.

Bloomberg reported last month that the restaurant chain was considering a possible Chapter 11 filing to shed some long-term contracts and renegotiate a swath of leases.

The Red Lobster website now has 80 locations across the country listed as “temporarily closed.”

California auction locations

In California, there are five restaurants that will have the entire contents of the store up for auction.

  • Redding
  • Rohnert Park
  • Sacramento
  • San Diego
  • Torrance

Locations in other states are also listed on the auction site.

High-performance ovens up for auction

According to the auction site Tag Ex Brands, these auctions are winner takes all – meaning, each winner will receive the entire contents of the Red Lobster location they bid on.

Auction items include high-performance ovens, upright refrigerators and freezers, cooking and warming solutions, and dining furniture. Featured brands may include Victory, Middleby, Blodgett, Pitco, Traulsen, and Hoshizaki.

The site says payment is required immediately upon auction close.

All items must be picked up by end of day Friday, May 17, otherwise the order will be forfeited without a refund.

Auctions are live and will end periodically on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
