HD Family Events helping to revitalize Old Town Victorville

VICTORVILLE – HD Family Events hosted their first Night Market on Route 66, Friday, in efforts to bring families together, support small businesses and help revitalize Old Town Victorville.

“HD Family Events has been hosting free family events for the whole family for about one year now,” said HD Family Events organizers. “Our goal is to give back to our community and have some fun while doing that.”

HD Family Events organizers Isabella Gallegos, Rebecca Rios and Blanca Guerra partnered with non-profit organization Revive Our Old Town (ROOT) to put on the event every Friday.

Revitalizing Old Town

ROOT is one of many entities making efforts to build up the blighted area.

Victorville announced, last year, that the city was steps away from forming California’s first Community Revitalization Investment Authority (CRIA).

Once the CRIA is fully implemented, the city will have access to revenue generated within Old Town to fund revitalization activities. As outlined in the Old Town Community Revitalization Investment Area Plan, these activities include:

  • infrastructure improvements;
  • low- and moderate-income housing development;
  • real property acquisition;
  • loans or grants to owners and tenants to improve, rehabilitate, and retrofit buildings;
  • and business assistance.

Night Market

Music invited the community to gather, shop and eat at the Night Market. Chingona Tacos, Sweet Treats by Bella, JFC, Osaka Hibachi, El Huarachon, and Cacti were a few of the local vendors selling their goods.
