FACT offering two free courses for beginning farmers

NATIONWIDE – Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT), a nonprofit organization concerned with food safety and animal welfare, is offering two online beginning farmer courses. The free short courses – Beginning Pastured Poultry and Funding Your Farm are designed to help beginning farmers achieve their goals.

According to a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) report, between 2013 and 2017, the U.S. farm sector included an average of 339,400 beginning farms and 898,100 beginning operators.  During that same period, the average household net worth for a beginning farmer was $1.2 million.

As the average age of all U.S. farm producers in 2017 was 57.5 years, the future of agriculture in America relies on the upcoming generation of producers.

FACT is an organization that believes all food-producing animals should be raised in a humane and healthy manner, and that everyone should have access to safe and humanely-produced food. They bundled their archived beginning farmer webinars with new content to offer the courses.
