APPLE VALLEY – The Mojave Water Agency (MWA) is working in partnership with the Mojave Desert Resource Conservation District (MDRCD) to offer free online course “From Seed to Salad.” The agency says the water-conscious series of workshops, starting March 7, will show how easy it can be to grow vegetables with very minimal water usage.

The course is a comprehensive 12-session water wise desert edible gardening course.

“The one-hour classes take you from step one to step “yum” as you begin to harvest your garden at the end of 3 months! Successful course completion is MWA Certificated,” says the MWA flyer.

The course is designed for the beginner gardener, and walks through each step at a weekly, comfortable pace. The course is for residents with small yard space or concrete patios.

MDRCD Program Manager Tony Walters will be the instructor for the 12 week course. He is a frequent guest lecturer for the Victor Valley Community College’s Environmental Sciences Department on water conservation. He also consults with farms on soil assessments, water issues, crop development, and provides public outreach education for the Mojave Water Agency.
