NATIONWIDE – Walmart’s College2Career program provides recent college graduates the opportunity to earn $210,000 within two years of being hired. The program, launching this summer, gives young professionals the opportunity to jump-start their careers with a fast-track into management roles.

College2Career is for recent college graduates and current college students within 12 months of graduating, including Walmart associates.

Participants go through a comprehensive mix of classroom training, hands-on experience and one-on-one mentoring with company leaders. They are trained to be a salaried member of management at a local store.

At the end of the program, top performers are offered the newly-created management job of emerging coach – with a starting wage of at least $65,000 a year. College students will be able to step into the role after they graduate, while recent grads will start immediately.

According to their announcement, it can take as long as 10 years on average for an employee to progress from a salaried coach role to a store manager, but with College2Career, “we are aiming to move emerging coaches to store managers within two years.”

Other hiring initiatives include a 12 week training program for truck drivers to earn a starting salary of $95,000 and $110,000. In April, Walmart was forced to increase the starting salaries of truck drivers in order to keep the retailer’s supply chain going after the industry shed 4,900 drivers in a single year.
