VICTORVILLE – The Victorville Home2 Suites Hilton hotel sold, February 2022, for $26 million to SRI Hospitality. Although the pandemic has caused an economic downturn in hospitality, the development of the Brightline high speed rail in nearby Apple Valley, could bolster tourism within the region.
The hotel, constructed in 2018, is one of two Hilton hotels located in the High Desert. The four-story hotel sits on 1.69 acres at the southwest corner of Amargosa Road and La Mesa Road. It has 106 rooms with kitchenette facilities consisting of a serving/eating area with refrigerator, microwave and sink.
According to Reonomy, the transfer of the property from Roberts Group LLC to SRI Hospitality took place on February 25, 2022, paid with a $19.76 million loan. This is the only property in the area owned by SRI Hospitality.
A major development expecting to bring tourists needing accommodations to the area — Brightline West.
Brightline’s high speed rail system, based in Apple Valley, will connect the High Desert to Las Vegas in a 90 minute ride. The line will eventually begin in Los Angeles to make a 3 hour trip to Sin City. The project is expected to create $10 billion in economic impact.
In addition, popular outdoor recreational activities including Mojave Narrows Regional Park, Silverwood Lake and Deep Creek Hot Springs may increase tourism to the High Desert.
In fact, hotel data shows that room revenue in California’s rural and outdoor recreation areas exceeded that of 2019’s record year. The four gateway regions (Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and San Francisco Bay area) fell short.
