APPLE VALLEY – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced that on October 11, at around 11:55 p.m., Barstow deputies responded to a home after reports of gunfire.

Deputies found the victim, Jesse Edward Murueta Cervantes, in the backyard with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the location and assumed the investigation.

Detectives determined the reporting party’s ex-boyfriend, Andrew Limon, 31, of Apple Valley, arrived at the home, where shots were fired in the backyard.

Limon shot Murueta Cervantes before fleeing the scene.

During the investigation, Apple Valley deputies found Limon in his car with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and will be booked for murder once medically cleared.

Investigators believe Limon was shot during the incident.
