CALIFORNIA – The California Competes Tax Credit application period is now open until August 11, 2025.

The state is offering $308 million in tax credits during this application period for businesses creating quality full-time jobs in California that wouldn’t otherwise exist.

In fiscal year 2025-26, the state said it is giving special consideration to businesses within the “strengthen” and “accelerate” sectors as outlined in the California Jobs First Economic Blueprint.

These sectors include aerospace and defense, the clean economy, high-tech, life sciences, working lands and water, and manufacturing.

For businesses interested in applying, the CalCompetes unit is hosting a free webinar where they will share more information about the application process and criteria on July 31, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
