CALIFORNIA – The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that a California man was sentenced, July 22, to 120 months in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution.

Gregory Smith, aka “OG Nutty,” 54, of Salinas, was first charged in 2021, during a South Bay firearms crackdown and formally charged in 2022.

On April 9, 2024, he pleaded guilty to meth distribution.

Court records show Smith sold 41.8 grams of meth and a ghost gun in Salinas for $1,425 on February 10, 2021. A week later, on February 17, Smith sold 28 grams of meth to the same person in Salinas.

Smith had 54 previous parole violations

In its sentencing memo, the government cited Smith’s 54 parole violations and called him a danger to the community.

U.S. District judge Beth Labson Freeman also imposed three years of supervised release and a $100 fine. Smith was taken into custody to begin his sentence.
