HESPERIA – The Silverwood Lake Nature Center will be hosting, Wednesday, a career day for kids interested in becoming a state park ranger. The information session will take place between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Park rangers are trained and designated as sworn California State Park Peace Officers.
According to the California State Park’s website, rangers are responsible for public safety and law enforcement, patrol, park operations, education or interpretive services, resource protection or management, assisting with program management activities, visitor facilities operations and services, and they may supervise or lead seasonal staff.
State Park Ranger cadets have a starting salary of $3,930.00 – $5,300.00.
Silverwood Lake is a large reservoir in Hesperia that features picnicking, hiking trails, swimming beaches, and designated areas for boating, water-skiing and fishing.
