Wendy’s, the popular burger fast-food chain, created a new website for a remote job – chief tasting officer with $100,000 pay.

The website states in large font, “Yes, this is real,” and describes the role as bringing vibes, taste, and creativity to the company in ways no one else can.

Basically, you’ll get paid to eat Wendy’s, be chill, maybe make some content and maybe even star in ads,” according to the website.

For the role, it says travel is light: “Mostly to your local Wendy’s and/or the couch.”

The company added that whether it’s quarterly vlog check-ins, taste-testing trends, or whatever, “you’ll make cheddar just for liking cheddar.”

Wendy’s lists several benefits of the role, including getting paid to eat, a job AI can’t steal “because… no mouth, duh,” and a custom Wendy’s Chief Tasting Officer email signature.

Social media “burger wars”

The news comes amid a social media “burger war” sparked by Chris Kempczinski, CEO of McDonald’s, who went viral after posting a promotional video where he taste-tested the company’s new Big Arch burger.

The clip spread widely online after viewers mocked his hesitant, tiny bite and the way he referred to the burger as a “product.”

Rival chains quickly joined the online joke, including Burger King, which posted a video of its president Tom Curtis taking a large bite of a Whopper.

As of early 2026, there are approximately 296 to 299 Wendy’s locations in California.

The chain is currently in the process of closing hundreds of underperforming, older locations across the U.S. during the first half of 2026.

How to apply

To apply for the role, Wendy’s says applicants should upload a video explaining why they’re perfect for the position. Bonus points are given for featuring Wendy’s branding, products, food, or a restaurant location.
