CALIFORNIA – Just as the holiday season approaches, discount grocer Aldi rolled out a budget-friendly Thanksgiving bundle that promises savings for families across the state.
For $40, shoppers can assemble a full Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people, including a 14-pound turkey and ingredients for nine traditional side dishes.
The promotion, active from October 15 through December 24, is available in stores and through curbside pickup, Instacart, Uber Eats, and DoorDash — with no coupons or membership required.
Californians spend more on groceries
California households spend more on groceries each week than the national average, with some data showing weekly spending of nearly $298, compared to the national average of about $270.
Within California, major metro areas like Riverside-San Bernardino and San Francisco report some of the highest grocery spending in the country – spending about $301 a week.
The average grocery cost for a classic Thanksgiving meal in California is around $70.19 for a 10-person gathering, or $7.02 per person.
Aldi’s per-person cost is $4, according to the company.
Scott Patton, Aldi U.S. chief commercial officer, said the offer reflects the retailer’s ongoing commitment to value during key holidays.
“We believe families shouldn’t have to make trade-offs to feed everyone, especially at Thanksgiving,” Patton said.
