17 arrested in Victorville, Hesperia; $376,000 in stolen goods recovered in train burglaries

VICTORVILLE – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced on October 1 that investigators from the Rural Crimes Task Force investigated recent train burglaries in the Victor Valley area.

The investigation resulted in 17 felony arrests, the seizure of $61,200 in cash, and the recovery of $376,618 in stolen property.

Three search warrants were executed at two residences and a storage unit in Hesperia and Victorville.

During the search at the 8800 block of Maple Avenue in Hesperia, investigators recovered numerous items linked to train burglaries. BNSF railroad police recovered an estimated $54,443 in stolen property.

Investigators seized approximately $19,200 in cash and arrested 11 suspects on felony charges of possessing stolen property and conspiracy.

All suspects were booked into the High Desert Detention Center.

A second search at the 14100 block of Anacapa Road in Victorville led to the seizure of approximately $42,000 in cash and $133,867 in stolen train cargo.

All property was returned to BNSF police. Investigators also seized eight illegal firearms — four rifles and four pistols. Six suspects were arrested and booked on charges of possessing stolen property and conspiracy.

All were transported to the High Desert Detention Center.

A third search at a storage unit on the 14300 block of Palmdale Road in Victorville uncovered more stolen property linked to recent train burglaries.

BNSF police recovered items valued at approximately $188,309.
