SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for San Bernardino County through Tuesday, with temperatures expected to exceed 100 degrees.
The advisory also includes Orange County Inland Areas, Riverside County Valleys, the Inland Empire, San Diego County Valleys, and Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills, where an excessive heat warning is in effect.
The advisory went into effect at 10 a.m. on September 1 and remains until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
NWS urges the public to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces, avoid direct
sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
For employers, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas to reduce risks for outdoor workers. Anyone experiencing heat illness should be moved to a cool, shaded location.
“Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9-1-1,” the NWS said.
Monsoonal moisture through Tuesday
The NWS reported that monsoonal moisture will move into the region Monday night into Tuesday, increasing the chance of showers and thunderstorms through the remainder of the week.
