San Bernardino County detectives investigating inmate death at West Valley Detention Center

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – On Saturday, July 26, 2025, deputies at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga found a 57-year-old male unresponsive in his cell. 

Deputies and jail medical staff provided aid until emergency personnel arrived. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced deceased.

Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations detectives are leading the investigation. Cause and manner of death await autopsy. Release of the decedent’s identity is pending notification of next of kin.
