Operation Consequences will run for several months

On November 5, 2024, California voters passed Proposition 36, reforming parts of Proposition 47. Taking effect December 18, it created laws aimed at addressing homelessness, drug use, and theft, giving deputies additional tools for arrest.

These new charges allow tougher sentencing and prevent cite releases before court. Proposition 36 applied to six of the arrests.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved funding to boost Sheriff’s Department efforts addressing quality-of-life issues countywide.

Operation Consequences will conduct targeted crime suppression and parole checks in the High Desert and San Bernardino areas.

It involves multiple law enforcement agencies and will run for several months to reduce violent crime, dismantle gangs, and arrest criminals involved with illegal firearms.
