SoCal park to host Trout Fishing Derby — win up to $1,000 in cash prizes

VICTORVILLE – San Bernardino County Regional Parks is excited to welcome back the 1-Day Trout Fishing Derby, March 8, at Mojave Narrows. 

A trout fishing derby is a competitive event where anglers try to catch the biggest trout within a designated area and time frame.

$1,000 for first place

Regional Parks is offering cash prizes to participants, with $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, and $250 for third.”

For the derby, 1,315 lbs. of trout, including lightning trout, will be stocked on Friday, March 7. The lakes will be closed to public fishing on Friday, March 7 and will reopen to the public after the derby ends.

Winners will be announced at approximately 1:15 p.m. at the Regional Parks weigh-in station area.

They do not need to be present at the announcement.

Fees and registration

Derby fees are $20 per person and $10 per vehicle. Participants aged 16 and over must have a valid fishing license. 

The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with gates opening at 6:30 a.m.
