Bureau of Land Management hosting hiring event in SoCal to fill 100 positions

APPLE VALLEY – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is holding a hiring event, December 12 – 14, to quickly fill over 100 wildland firefighter and support positions for the 2025 Fire Year. 

We are recruiting applicants to work on the frontlines of wildfire management, protecting public lands and communities across California,” said the BLM in a Facebook post.

According to USA Jobs, wildland firefighters earn a salary of $36,643 – $59,823 per year. The job posting says a supplemental pay increase of $20,000 or 50% of base pay per year, is authorized under Bipartisan Infrastructure Law through 1/31/2025.

SoCal hiring event

The upcoming hiring event is taking place at the Apple Valley Fire Center located at 18809 Central Road in Apple Valley from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The agency expects to fill many temporary seasonal jobs in various locations. Applicants are asked to choose a preference of Apple Valley, Banning, Essex, Ridgecrest, Yucca Valley or Riverside when applying.

The available positions may include wildland firefighters for engines, hotshots, handcrews, helitack, and dispatchers.

Applicants are encouraged to attend the in-person hiring event, but may apply online in advance.

  • Bakersfield, January 30 – February 2
  • Susanville, March 4 – 5
  • Cedarville, March 6 -7
