VICTORVILLE — Victor Valley College is hosting, March 14, the 2024 High Desert Economic and Real Estate Symposium.
Organizers say the symposium is the region’s only event to provide an in-depth review of the real estate and economic markets of the High Desert.
Mayor Panel
This year the event will feature a panel of mayors from Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Hesperia, and Victorville who will provide updates on growth, business, and infrastructure in their city or town.
Silverwood
General Manager of Silverwood Master Plan John Ohanian is scheduled to speak about growth in the High Desert. According to the developer, Silverwood — in Hesperia, will be one of the largest developments in Southern California in many years. It is 9,000 acres in size and entitled for more than 15,000 homes.
Barstow International Gateway
BNSF Executive Director of Public Affairs Lena Kent will be speaking about the Barstow International Gateway project. BNSF says the state-of-the-art planned integrated rail facility will bring thousands of jobs to High Desert communities.
Economic Review and Forecast
Beacon Economics, LLC founder Dr. Christopher Thornberg will provide an economic review and forecast for the region. According to Beacon Economics, the firm was the only major forecast on the West Coast to correctly predict the collapse of the sub-prime real estate bubble and the global recession that followed.
