56 arrested, 3,500 birds seized in San Bernardino’s ‘Crowing Rooster’ Cockfighting crackdown

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Rural Crimes Task Force ran a six-week operation called “Crowing Rooster” from June 14 to August 1, 2025.

Investigators arrested 10 felons, 46 subjects for misdemeanor crimes including animal cruelty, and relinquished 3,500 cockfighting birds to Animal Care Services.

Rural Crimes targets rural offenses like animal cruelty, theft of copper, fuel, equipment, livestock, fencing, and cargo.

3800 block of Francis Street, Chino

14000 block of Caughlin Road, Phelan

15000 block of Sequoia Avenue, Fontana

15200 block of Lilac Street, Hesperia

12000 block of Cactus Avenue, Bloomington

 59900 Phillipi Lane, Landers

 3200 block of Duffy Street, Muscoy

 2400 block of Dos Palmas Road, Phelan

 13000 block of Blanco Road, Phelan

 14000 block of Farmington Street, Hesperia

 10300 block of Eighth Avenue, Hesperia

 14400 block of Sheep Creek Road, Phelan

 10800 block of Beekley Road, Phelan

 25200 block of 4th Street, Highland

 2100 block of Mallory Street, Muscoy

 7500 block of Begonia Road, Phelan

Investigators also seized over $259,000, 12 firearms (including three ghost guns), 12 ounces of cocaine, 11.5 ounces of methamphetamine, and 6 grams of fentanyl with a street value of about $11,000.

The task force included deputies from Victor Valley, Twin Peaks, Probation, District Attorney’s Office, and Code Enforcement, with assistance from Animal Care Services and local animal and code enforcement agencies.
