Adelanto offering assistance on up to 6 months past due water bills

ADELANTO – The City of Adelanto is offering residents up to six months financial assistance on past due water bills.

The Low Income Household Wate​r Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is a limited-term, federally funded program that offers assistance to help low-income households pay residential water and sewer bills. 

Eligibility

The Department of Community Services and Development (CSD) says key factors to determine eligibility for LIHWAP assistance include:

  • Total household gross income is at or below 60% of the State Median Income or 
  • A household member is a current recipient of CalFresh, CalWORKs, or the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP);
  • Renters whose water and/or sewer bill is included in their rental payment may still qualify for LIHWAP. Renters must also complete an agreement with their landlord as part of the application. ​

Limited Funding

The city says funding is only available for a limited time.

Residents that have already received COVID-19 funded assistance previously, will not qualify.
