VICTORVILLE – On Friday, March 13, 2026, at about 3:32 p.m., deputies responded to Seventh Street and Yucca Avenue after reports that 15 to 20 people were fighting.

While responding, deputies saw a man on a bicycle. He got off the bicycle and jumped into a backyard. As the deputy approached the residence, he saw Anthony Sandoval, 42, of Victorville,  in the doorway of a trailer on the property and heard suspected gunshots.

After hearing suspected gunshots, the deputy fired their weapon, according to the sheriff’s department. Additional deputies arrived and ordered multiple occupants out of the trailer.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and determined fireworks had been set off on the property just before the lethal force encounter.

No injuries were reported, and two occupants were arrested.

Sandoval was arrested for a probation violation, and the man investigators believe jumped into the backyard, Val Edward Hernandez, 44, of San Jacinto, was arrested on numerous warrants out of Riverside County.
