Two women killed in Victorville double homicide; family member arrested

VICTORVILLE  – Victorville Station deputies responded around 8:58 p.m. Feb. 20 to a reported assault with a deadly weapon in the 13000 block of Sundown Road.

Multiple people were reported shot at the scene.

Deputies arrived and found Ayanna Smith, 48, and Annaya Scott, 26, both of Cerritos, and an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three were transported to hospitals, where Smith and Scott were pronounced dead. The third victim remains hospitalized. 

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division–Homicide Detail took over the case.

Detectives identified Sydney Smith, 45, of Victorville, a family member, as the suspect in the double homicide and attempted murder. Smith was arrested and is being held without bail at High Desert Detention Center.
