CALIFORNIA — The City of Adelanto announced October 20 that the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) awarded it the Prohousing Designation.
The city said this marks “a major milestone in the City’s efforts to address California’s housing crisis and expand opportunities for residents.”
With the designation, the city said it is better positioned to compete for millions in state funding to accelerate housing, improve infrastructure, and support long-term community development.
Benefits for Adelanto
According to HCD, the Prohousing Designation Program (PDP) seeks to acknowledge and support jurisdictions that go above-and-beyond state housing law to help accelerate housing production.
The designation provides Adelanto with advantages in pursuing housing and community development projects, including:
- Priority processing for state housing and infrastructure funding applications.
- Access to competitive state programs with additional funding opportunities.
- Enhanced incentives for affordable housing development.
Adelanto mayor Gabriel Reyes said this is a tremendous accomplishment for Adelanto.
“The Prohousing Designation not only validates our city’s vision for smart, responsible growth but also positions us to secure the resources needed to improve infrastructure, build more housing, and enhance the quality of life for our residents,” he said.
