West Valley inmate dies at hospital; investigation underway

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced that on September 2, at about 3:15 p.m., nursing staff at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center found an inmate had stopped breathing.

Caesar Duane Rogers, 64, of San Bernardino, had been receiving treatment for a serious medical condition since his incarceration in 2023.  A physician responded and Rogers was pronounced deceased.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division took over the case.

Rogers was arrested March 18, 2023, by the San Bernardino police for robbery and booked into the Central Detention Center.

He was later moved to the West Valley Detention Center, where he remained until his death.
