San Bernardino County inmate dies after becoming unresponsive; sheriff investigates

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – On Friday, August 15, 2025, at about 5:17 p.m., deputies and medical staff at the West Valley Detention Center said they responded to an inmate, Brandon Robinson, who needed medical attention.

Robinson was unresponsive, received CPR, and later was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine Robinson’s cause of death.  

Robinson arrested for elder abuse

Robinson was arrested on July 5, 2025, for elder abuse (PC 368(b)(1)) and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. 

He was later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center, where he remained until his death.
