APPLE VALLEY – The Apple Valley Police Department announced it will be out on August 16, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence (DUI).

Deputy Dominguez said impaired driving is preventable.

“It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places,” said Dominguez.

Impaired driving isn’t just from alcohol

Apple Valley police warn that impaired driving isn’t just from alcohol.

Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. They recommend always following directions and reading warning labels before driving.

Although medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under its influence is illegal.
