HESPERIA – Hesperia announced, August 22, they are developing a strategic plan to chart a vision for the city’s future. To do so, they want input from the community on identifying key goals and strategies for the next three to five years through a short survey.

The city says they are working with Baker Tilly, a consulting firm specializing in assisting local governments, to facilitate a strategic planning process.

“This survey is designed to collect community input on the strengths and opportunities facing the City of Hesperia and to help identify priorities for the future. The survey results will be used by the City Council as it contemplates the direction of the City over the next three to five years,” says a statement on the survey site.

Survey questions

One of the questions in the survey asks do you agree with the five strategic goals that were identified during the City Council’s March 20, 2024 goal setting workshop:

  • Public Safety – Ensure public safety resources adequately protect our community.
  • Future Development – Facilitate balanced growth to ensure cohesive community development and pursue economic development.
  • Organizational Health – Foster a high performing organization that provides opportunities for professional growth.
  • Financial Health – Maintain a balanced budget and adequate reserves.
  • Capital Improvement – Continually evaluate capital improvement priorities.

Other multiple choice questions ask about the existing positive qualities that city leaders can build on. Also, what areas that are the most important for the city to focus on during the next few years.

The city says individual responses to this survey are confidential and anonymous. Each response is sent directly to Baker Tilly.

The results will be consolidated and summarized to inform the creation of the strategic plan.
